Welcome to Atelier Mauri

In December 2021, we opened a Venetian Glass Bead Workshop officially certified by the Venetian Glass Bead Preservation Association in Sakyo Ward, Kyoto City!

If you're traveling from Kyoto Station, it's about a 20-minute ride on the Karasuma Subway Line. From "Matsugasaki Station," it's a roughly 10-minute walk from Exit 2.

Alternatively, you can take Kyoto City Bus Route 4 or 65 and get off at "Sakyo Ward Office-mae" stop, which is just a 1-minute walk away.

Look for our sign quietly nestled in the residential area as your landmark!

It's an adorable little house in appearance.

The sign is displayed only on working days.

As we often participate in events and exhibitions, we operate by appointment, but we also warmly welcome visits!

The first floor of the house serves as the Venetian Glass Bead Atelier. While the entrance area is compact, we have on display some of our representative necklaces and items.

We also have on display important letters we've received from the Venetian Glass Bead Preservation Association and the Italian Embassy.

Just like the bead workshops in Venice, our atelier is filled with glass materials scattered everywhere. Numerous glass rods and precious glass fragments are lined up, and we even have some rare materials that are not easily found in Venice!

We have two gas torches for work. The one in the foreground is primarily used, but we alternate between them based on the materials we're working with.

You can also observe the detailed process of creating Maurizio Lotter's original beads, which cannot be seen even in Venice!

Learn about the history and charm of Venetian glass, the distinctions between regular Venetian glass beads and Maurizio Lotter's original beads, and discuss various topics related to Italy and Japan.

Let's take our time to have a thorough conversation about these subjects as much as time allows!

Please come and visit the workshop when you have the chance!

*Reservations required: 090-7096-5937

In the future, I'm thinking of teaching the techniques of Venetian glass beads and even considering doing video streaming from here!

Please look forward to it~
